• Absorb the stain – The first step to cleaning any kind of liquid spill is absorb as much moisture as possible by blotting the stain, you may need to do this several times. The blotting action also helps keep the stain from spreading.
• Blot up the moisture – Flush the area with a small amount of clean, cool water. Quickly blot up as much of the liquid as possible. Re-apply the clean water and continue to blot. Be patient and don’t saturate the area.
• Clean – Fill a glass bowl with two cups of lukewarm water, add ¼ cup of lemon juice and a squirt of liquid dish detergent, stir gently to mix, and then moisten a clean household sponge with the cleaning solution. Squeeze and apply a small amount of solution to the stained carpet. Rub gently beginning at the outside of the stain and working towards the center. Continue until the entire stain is covered with the cleaning solution.
• Rinse – Rinse with a small amount of clear, cool water in a spray bottle and blot up the excess moisture immediately. Remove as must moisture as possible and allow to air dry
• Vinegar – For set in coffee stains vinegar has amazing cleaning powers. Use 1 part water to 3 parts white vinegar. Moisten a household sponge with the vinegar solution and dab onto the stain. For stubborn stains, leave the solution on overnight.
