Cats and dogs are furry extensions of the family. Their entertaining demeanor and personalities as well as the loyalty and companionship that defines unconditional love is definitely worth the maintenance and cost required to have them in our lives. But our adorable pets often inflict damage to the materials in the home inadvertently. A prime example is our pets constant shedding, especially when the seasons changes, causing their hair or fur to embed in the carpet fibers. When attempting to remove the shed hair from the carpets even the vacuum protests the volume of hair; making it a challenge to effectively remove from off the carpet. Considering that, we at Steam Green Carpet Cleaning would like to offer some tips, methods, and advice on maintaining the pet hair that is overwhelming the carpets.

Method #1 – Sponge Mop Removes Pet Hair from Carpet: This method is better suited for low-pile carpeting.
Gather the following:
– Vacuum
– Spray bottle with water
– Clean Kitchen Sponge Mop
Pet Hair Removal Process
1) Start by running the vacuum thoroughly over the carpet.
2) Lightly mist the sponge mop with pure water.
3) To remove any resistant pet hair from the carpet fibers, glide the mop across the carpet’s surface. This method will clump the pet’s hair up, allowing you to remove it from the carpets with vacuum or by hand.

Method #2 – Fabric Softener Pet Hair Removal from Carpet: You will need the following items:
– Water
– Vacuum
– Spray bottle
– Liquid fabric softener
Pet Hair Removal Process
1) Combine 1 part fabric softener with 3 parts water in a spray bottle and mix well.
2) Mildly spray the carpet with the solution. Do not to saturate the carpet; a slight mist is all that is needed.
3) Allow it to dry; with a light mist it shouldn’t take very long at all.
4) Thoroughly vacuum the floor. The fabric softener will loosen the hairs from the carpet fibers, making vacuuming a breeze and fairly efficient.

Method #3 – Baking Soda Removes Pet Hair from Carpet
Collect the following:
– Baking soda
– Vacuum
Pet Hair Removal Process
1) First, sprinkle the carpet with a fine layer of baking soda.
2) Let it sit for 10 minutes.
3) Completely vacuum the carpet. Not only does the baking soda help lift it from the carpet it also deodorizes.
Additional Tips
1) Wearing a pair of rubber gloves to attract the pet hair, you can manually work the hair out of the fiber with your hands.
2) Using a squeegee that is long enough to push along the floor, pull the hairs up with the rubber and follow up with a thorough vacuuming.
3) Considering upgrading your current vacuum and invest with in a vacuum engineered to remove pet hair from carpets.
4) If all methods fail, hire a professional to assist the pet hair removal project.
