What to Use to Deep Clean Heavily Soiled Hardwood Floors in Ventura, CA & How to Do it!

What to Use to Clean Hardwood Floors

You will need:
– Microfiber mop
– Microfiber cloth
– Broom, dust mop, or vacuum
– Bucket of warm soapy water or specific wood cleaner product according to your wood floor type.
– Furniture pads
– Wood floor polish (optional)
 

How to Clean Hardwood Floors

1) Remove the clutter. Clear out the furniture, rugs, and other objects out of the room to improve efficiency and easy of the task. To remove the furniture easily and prevent scratches and scuff marks, place the furniture pads under the furniture.
2) Clean the surface. Use the broom, dust mop, or vacuum to clean of the debris off the surface, paying special attention to the corners and edges where the debris tends to cluster.
3) Mop with the grain. If you are capable, consider washing the floor on your hands and needs for a better clean and more control. Wash the floor in sections to wash the with grain of the wood in smooth strokes and follow it up immediately with a dry cloth remove the moisture. Polyurethaned floors can be washed with the warm soapy water and floors that are lacquered or shellacked cannot get wet, so use a wood floor cleaner designed for hardwood and engineered wood floors to avoid staining and buckling.
4) Buff the wood. Buff the wood floors and ensure the residues from the cleaner or solution are removed by using a separate microfiber cloth and circular motions with light pressure.
5) For extra shine if needed. A good mopping will often restore the shine, but if it is lacking, use an approved wood floor polish to restore the luster back to the wood floors according the directions on the label.
When maintaining the wood floors, always follow the directions on commercial products you use on approved cleaners for the type of wood floor you have. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive tools or you will just damage the floors. Replace your furniture and rugs only after you know the floor is dry.
